Senior Manager, Associate Relations

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager of Associate Relations manages a team of Associate Relations Specialists responsible for a coordinated and integrated oversight of all associate relations matters across all operations of MSC.  

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages MSC’s associate relations programs to maximize their effectiveness.
  • Research complex associate issues, and if necessary, coordinate efforts with outside counsel.
  • Leverages skills and role of Associate Relations Specialists to strengthen alignment of HR with key operational groups to help maximize business outcomes, improve managerial effectiveness and achieve the highest levels of associate engagement
  • Serves as management expert on interpretation of company policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with department/senior management to ensure that functional operations are in alignment with the principles of positive associate relations and in compliance with obligations under any law, policy or regulatory requirement
  • Develops and implements MSC-wide associate relations policies and practices and ensures uniform and equitable application of these policies/practices.
  • Communicates with MSC’s legal counsel to ensure the legal compliance of MSC’s policies and practices.
  • Attends focus group meetings and follows up on issues raised at these meetings.
  • Manages the MSC associate recognition program to maximize its positive impact on MSC associates.
  • Manages the development of associate relations training programs including no harassment and diversity.
  • Manages the exit interview tracking and follows up to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Performs all duties inherent in the role of MSC Senior Manager as defined by the MSC Code of Conduct including hiring, termination, review, and development of associates.
  • Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

 

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources/Management or the equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of  eight  years progressively more responsible associate relations experience required.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in managing associates.

 

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations as well as the fundamentals of associate relations is required. 
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software is required. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are also required.
  • Must be highly analytical and detail-oriented and have the ability to effectively link strategy and detailed analytical tools.
  • Highly developed organizational and project management skills required.
  • Strong knowledge of how MSC’s business works financially and operationally required.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to  5%  of the time are required
